As technology becomes an integral part of our everyday lives, both at
work and at home, Sealy ISD strives to provide its students with the
skills necessary to be successful in our 21st Century world. When given
the proper tools and opportunities, Sealy ISD believes that each and
every student can be successful. Many of these tools and resources are
available online to students, who are exposed to them on a daily
basis. Sealy ISD provides not only the means to access online resources
but also stresses cyber safety and awareness to students as they
traverse the web. Internet access provided by the school is filtered as
required by the Children’s Internet Protection Act.
The school day, however, is not the only time that many students use the
Internet. Many have access to the world wide web on their phones, at
home or at friends’ homes. While the Internet contains informative and
entertaining websites, it can also expose your child to cyber bullying,
inappropriate content and possible exploitation. It is important that
you, as parents, take time to speak with your child about Internet
safety. To assist you in opening this vital line of communication, this

- Spend time with your children on-line.
- Keep the computer in a common room in the house, not in your child’s bedroom.
- Utilize parental controls provided by your service provider and/or blocking software.
- Always maintain access to your child’s on-line account and randomly check his/her e-mail.
- Teach your child the responsible use of the resources on-line.
