Program Design
The Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented Students requires schools to provide gifted and talented students with the opportunity to collaborate with others of similar ability to work independently and work with other students.  Therefore, Sealy ISD has designed its gifted program in the following manner:

ELEMENTARY (K-5):

The Elementary Gifted and Talented program is a pullout program that serves the needs of gifted students in Sealy ISD. The Elementary GT program allows our identified gifted students the opportunity to work together weekly with the Gifted and Talented Coordinator. -Kindergarten – 2 hour/week (Starting in March)
-
1st and 2nd grades – 2 hour/week
-
3rd grade – 2.5 hours/ week
-
4th and 5th grades – 3 hours/week Additionally, at the elementary level, identified gifted students in 1st – 5th grades are grouped together (clustered) in a regular education classroom with a teacher who has completed the following GT training as well as yearly training updates: -Nature and Needs of Gifted Learners -Identification, Assessment & Service Design for Gifted Learners -Differentiated Instruction for Gifted Learners -Designing Curriculum for Gifted Learners -Setting the Standards for Gifted Learners

SECONDARY:

Identified students are served in their areas of strength in the, Pre AP and AP classes in the four academic content areas.  At the high school level, the gifted and talented students may also enroll in dual enrollment classes. Teachers of the Pre AP and AP have received the state-required gifted and talented training.  When possible, out-of-school options relevant to the student’s strength are available.
