HOW WILL OUR SCHOOL CALENDAR BE AFFECTED?

The Texas Education Agency has provided guidance to school districts noting that minutes will be waived for this school year. At this time, we do not feel that the school year will be extended into the summer. We expect more guidance from the state in weeks to come. Additionally, all STAAR and EOC testing has been waived. I realize some additional questions come with this information; however, we are early in this process and the state is working through details.

WILL MY CHILD HAVE TO TAKE THE STAAR TEST THIS SPRING?

No. All state testing requirements have been suspended for this school year.

INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT AND RESOURCES

Please see the Instructional Support Page for Sealy ISD’s plan to continue instruction.  You can also scroll down and see a list of extension activities available to provide additional educational supports.  SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES Students will still receive special education and 504 services during these school closures. Details are still being worked out for specific services and they may need to be modified to allow staff to provide the best support possible given constraints that exist in delivery or instructional services. If you have questions regarding these services please email [email protected].

MEDICATION PICK UP

The campus nurses will begin contacting parents about picking up student medications. If you need to pick up your child’s medicines from the school, please email your campus nurse directly so that they can schedule a time.

TEACHER CONTACT INFORMATION

All teachers will be checking their school email addresses.  All staff email addresses are first initial, last name @ sealyisd.com.  Example: Jane Smith = [email protected]. You can find a complete list of teachers on the campus websites under the staff directory.

EXEMPTIONS

Exemptions will be discussed at a later time.  These COVID school closure dates will not affect exemptions.

GRADUATION

There are no current plans to change Graduation.  We will keep you updated if the state extends current school closures.  Remember, together we can “flatten the curve” and get life back to “normal".

GT ASSESSMENT RESULTS

When will gifted and talented spring assessment results be communicated to families? Per TEA guidance, GT screening is currently on hold until all the assessment results can be collected and compiled for the District GT Committee to meet and discuss. The district is hopeful to get the results communicated via mail in May or early summer. If a student qualifies for services and they were screened this spring, they will not begin services until August 2020.
